Kalila's life was destroyed then the vampire lord Count Blood used the Moonstone Crystal to shroud the kingdom of Bogs in artificial night. Kalila and her brother Eugene lost their parents to the invading vampires and they were trapped ina nightmarish orphanage where they waited to grow up to be transferred to the farms. They escaped to the kingdom of Le Grande where Eugene learned how to become a thief.

But Kalila is obsessed with one thought, revenge. To train to become stronger in order to kill Count Blood. This obsession drives a wedge between Eugene and Kalila which causes them to loose touch for years.
